Happy Christmas!

I have never been a big fan of Christmas, in fact up until the last couple of years I have dreaded it. I couldn't stand the crowds, the commercialization, anything. Now that the kids are old enough to really enjoy it I have found myself getting all wrapped up in the spirit of Christmas.

This time of year tends to bring out the best in people (unless you are fighting with someone over the last Wii on Christmas eve... haha). It's a beautiful thing when people come together to help out those in need. Seriously, every where I look I see random acts of kindness. I'm continually inspired by peoples willingness to give.

From our family to yours... wishes of a happy and safe, goofy and silly unselfish holiday season!

For those of you who did not receive a Christmas card in the mail from us, here is the front side of the card that we sent out this year.

The images of Becca and I were taken by our son... looks like he's already a better photographer than his dad... hahaha.

Your work is beautiful.

Do you have contact information or pricing information? I have looked through your blog and couldn't find any.

Thanks

Hey there. I saw your comment on Deyl's blog. I'm looking at getting into photography as a hobby, not a career, and am torn between what DSLR to get. I was going to get the Nikon D80 but am starting to lean to the Canon 5D... any tips? :)

Have a prosperous 2008.

Hi Tyler,
I tried IM'ing you but I'm not sure if you got it. The D80 doesn't really compare to the 5D because it is more of an consumer level DSLR where the 5D is generally considered a prosumer camera. Nikon's new D300 would be more comparable to the 5D. I shoot Nikon myself and I love the quality built into their products but they are usually behind on the mega pixel race. I have some friends that shoot Canon and I have heard many stories of having to send cameras back to Canon to get shutters repaired, focusing issues, etc. I have to say that I have never had a manufacture defect with any of my Nikon equipment!

That said, Canon makes a solid camera and a lot of the pro's are switching to Canon. With the new Nikon D3, the playing field has been leveled a lot but Nikon is still lacking on the mega pixel front. I would suggest going to dpreview.com and reading the reviews and looking at the images samples from each camera. Short of renting the camera's and test shooting them yourself, this should give you a pretty good idea of what each camera is about.

Good Luck!

Feel free to email me if you have any more questions.

Happy New Year!
Ryan

Thanks for the tips. What Nikon are you currently using?

I'll check out the site you mentioned and let you know when I make the purchase.
