Thank You Ladies!
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who participated in the photoshoot this past weekend. Becca Christensen (my sweet wife) did an amazing job with all of the model's hair. Carly Warburton with Mirabella did a terrific job with the make up. And finally, for not having any modeling experience (which you probably wouldn't guess by looking at the pictures), the three models did an outstanding job and were a blast to work with. All of these wonderful ladies mention above really made my job a breeze. Thank you all, I can't wait to work with you again.

Austin and Dakota
A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of working with Austin and his little brother Dakota. Austin was cool and relaxed while Dakota really didn't want to be there having some silly photographer taking his portraits. In the end though I think he ended up having fun. Thanks Allison for giving me the opportunity to photograph your two boys, they are awesome!

Peyton and Sydney
A while back, I received a phone call from a friend of mine asking me for a favor. She told me that she had a really close friend who was in the hospital going through cancer treatments and was wondering if I would photograph her friends’ two beautiful children. She wanted to surprise her friend with a portrait of her children so that she could see her kids even on days when they weren't able to come visit her.
I never got the opportunity to meet Stephanie before she passed but I was very touched by her story and extremely grateful for the opportunity to make a difference. Stephanies' story along with a story I heard on the radio a little over a month ago is what prompted me to start the "Faces of Cancer" project.

Boston Turns One
I photographed Boston a while back just before he turned one and I never got around to posting the images so I thought I would post them now. What a cool kid! His dad is obviously a big Sox fan so we incorporated his sox hat and a baseball into the fun.

Cardon Family Session
Recently I had the privilege of photographing the Cardon family and we had such a fun time. Little Jack threw sand in his dad's eyes during the session and made us all laugh, what a cool kid he is. It took him a few minutes to get used to that weird guy following him and his mom and dad around with a big camera but once he did, it was like I wasn’t even there.
Thanks guys for the opportunity, I really enjoyed your session.

Photographing Children
I've recently found the time to get my two beautiful children (I might be a little biased) into the studio to photograph them. For all you parents out there who get frustrated when their children do not want to cooperate while getting their portraits taken just remember your children aren't the only ones. I have to coax my children in to getting their portraits taken as well.
All of the images below were taken after 9:30 at night, 30 minutes after their bed time.
Here are my bored kids toward the beginning of the shoot. You can tell that they don't really want their portraits taken.

Here they are later on in the shoot being more cooperative and having fun.

I've found that it is a lot easier when I can take them in alone without distractions. So the next time you come in to get their portraits taken (even if you go somewhere else) try stepping out of sight or out of the room and if you have a good photographer who knows how to entertain children, you might be pleasantly surprised at the images you get back.

Shooting on Laguna Beach
I haven't been back from the beach very long and I already want to go back! Last month I had the opportunity to fly to California and photograph the Iverson's on the beach behind the Montage hotel in Laguna Beach. All I have to say is WOW! We had a great time running around on the beach and almost got washed away by the high tide.
Here are some images from the shoot!

KaCee and Tyson's Wedding
My sister got married a few weeks back and she asked me to photograph her wedding. Boy it's hard to photograph a wedding when you are supposed to be in some of the shots yourself. Thank goodness one of the groomsmen offered to take the pictures as long as all he had to do was press the shutter. Otherwise I would have had to get pretty creative!
Congrats little sis, I love you!

Education
As a photographer, I feel it is important to continuously strive for improvement. I always want to be learning something new whether it be photography techniques, Photoshop techniques or fun and creative ways to interact with my clients through customer service, marketing, etc.
I frequently attend seminars and tradeshows to learn from world class photographers and vendors and I just recently had the opportunity to learn from two great photographers, Craig Kienast and Vicki Taufer. All I have to say is Wow!
Craig is a Photographic Portrait Artist who is doing some amazing stuff in Photoshop with overlaying images to create cool backgrounds from textures. He frequently writes articles for Rangefinder Magazine and can be found speaking at many national and regional photography seminars and events.
Vicki is the owner/photographer of a very successful photography studio in Illinois. She and her husband Jed started this business about five years ago and in the first three years transformed their business from a "basement" studio in their home to a beautiful 4000+ sq ft studio in an old bowling alley which they fully gutted and renovated themselves. Vicki can be found speaking at many national and international photography seminars and events.
I truly learned a lot from listening to these two wonderful and inspiring people and hope to see them again in the future.
THANK YOU Craig and Vicki for sharing your inspiration and knowledge!

Home Studio
I have been spending a lot of time and $$ on getting my home studio to a functional point. I just last week hung my background roller system and hair light. I am waiting to receive my custom canvas backgroud and I am getting ready to put shelving in for extra storage space to manage all the junk that keeps getting in my way while shooting in the studio. I can't wait to get everything in order and have a clean studio!
My first blog
Hello everyone, this is my first official blog posting. I have wanted to add a blog to my site for sometime but I just didn't have the time to research them and figure out what I needed to do to get it up and running. Wow, had I known how easy it was I would have done it long ago. Everyone should have their own blog!
